Let’s Drink to Rockschools Bands

May 7th, 2012

A great day at the Towcestrians’ Beer Festival yesterday afternoon. No beer for me or the bands but I suspect some of our parents may have enjoyed the odd pint!

All the bands played well and the event was very well attended.

Broken Revolution

De-Fault opened the afternoon at midday before dashing off to another charity gig at the Saracen’s Head in Towcester.

They were followed by Behind Closed Doors with another of their professional performances.

Amped Out had their first public gig for us away from the friendly home concerts at school but still put in their usual good performance. I suspect they will be one of our top bands next year.

Lost, Stolen or Strayed were another band showing great promise for the future with some very talented musicians. I shall find them more opportunities in the future.

Red Dragons were our youngest band yesterday with all members 11 years old or younger. They have been working together for three and a half years now and continue to perform beyond their years.

Satanic Flumps again put in a powerful performance. They really motivate the audience.

Broken Revolution showed that they may become the band to take over from Korrozion who put in a powerful, professional performance.

Fleisch closed the afternoon with another talented performance.

Fleisch

Special thanks to all the staff who gave up their Bank Holiday weekend to help the bands – Bob Fleming, Sam Cooknell, Sam Orrin, Chris Haynes (photographer) and Ros Miles.

Battle of the Bands – Final

April 29th, 2012

Friday night saw the final of Battle of the Bands at Vision Cafe’s HQ in Towcester. Four bands won through from exciting qualifying rounds to showcase their talent and compete for the coveted prize.

Korrozion

Korrizion, Broken Revolution, Dan Smith and George of the Jungle played brilliantly and gave the audience a tough decision, so tough, in facet, that no winner was declared and all the performers shared the prize equally between them.

Broken Revolution

Rockschools at Vision Fete

April 10th, 2012

Despite it being a cold, wet Easter Monday, nothing could dampen the spirit of Rockschools’ students. Instead of performing on the recreation ground as planned, the weather meant that the bands had to play inside. Lots of people crammed in to see Broken Revolution, a solo performance from Richie, George and Katie (with Akropolis’ Sam guesting on some of the songs) and Red Dragons. Red Dragons, one of Rockschools’ younger bands, gave a really gutsy performance, much to the delight of the audience, they even went back on and did a second set.

It was great to see the Mayor of Towcester, Martin Johns, and his wife attending the event with the Mayor even taking the time to have his photo taken with Emily and Brodie of Red Dragons.
