Welcome back to a new Rockschools Year

Registration and Family Day is on Saturday 16 September 2017 from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm at Nicholas Hawksmoor School, Towcester

We look forward to seeing you all again at our Annual Registration and Family Day, where you can meet up with friends, listen to our bands and register for the new Rockschool year.

The Parents and Friends Association will be providing ‘Tuck Shop’ and refreshments for you to enjoy whilst you register and listen to our bands.

Bands will be playing outside if the weather is fine, or inside in the school hall if need be. All students who have individual guitar, drum, piano and singing tuition are invited to come and listen to our Rockschools bands and to register to join a band themselves if not already in one.

Fees per term are:
£120 per term for bands at Rockschools
£160 per term for individual tuition at Rockschools
£280 per term for both at Rockschools
£98 per term for guitar lessons in Primary Schools

Payment can be made online to:
Rockschools Ltd
Sort Code 20-03-84
Account 63548996
Ref: Name of Student

Online payment is preferred but fees can also be paid by cash on registration day.

All students will need to have a new registration form signed by parent/carer and student for this year. Forms are attached to this letter for you to print off and complete and will also be available on the day. The Rockschools Calendar is also attached.

Bands and solo acts who would like to play on the day please contact Ros Miles to reserve a practice room if required.
Please remember that although this may be a non-playing day for some, it is an important Rockschools session for all as I want to be able to discuss with each of you the band you would like to be with and plan your goals for the year with you personally.

Please note that due to health and safety requirements all electrical equipment used at Rockschools must be PAT tested. We will be providing a free PAT test for all students’ equipment during the term. All students bringing equipment must also bring their own extension lead to connect to the power breaker provided.

I look forward to being with you all once again on Saturday 16 September,

January 2017 Newsletter

January 6th, 2017

Welcome back to Rockschools Spring Term which starts on Saturday 7 January for sessions and lessons.

Fees for the term are due on Saturday and can be paid by cash or cheque to Rockschools Ltd. on the day or by payment online to:

Rockschools Ltd
Sort Code 20.03.84
Account No. 63548996
Ref: Student’s name

Fees are £120 for sessions, £160 for lessons and £280 for both.

It has become necessary to increase fees on Saturdays this term due to a rise in our rental costs. I apologise for having to make this decision but after being able to keep fees at their previous level for the last four years this small increase is now unavoidable in order to remain viable.

A reminder to all students with electric guitars, bass, keyboard or electric drums to bring their own extension lead to plug into the power breaker provided with the PA in each room.

For those having guitar tuition at Wappenham lessons start on w/b Sunday 8 January and for those having tuition in schools lessons start on w/b Monday 9 January.

If you have any queries please contact Ros Miles on 07738 974220 or at rosmiles@rockschools.co.uk.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Many congratulations to all our Rockschools bands and soloists who took part in the Brackley Rotary Club Young Musician of the Year Competition on Saturday 12 November. Rockschools was very well represented and a total of 8 soloists and bands were voted winners in their categories and will be playing in the Regional Semi-Finals in March next year.

Robyn Turnbull was voted winner of Brackley Young Musician of the Year for the second time and Hannah Fowles was voted Runner Up. They were both in the solo vocal categories, Senior and Intermediate.

Other winners were our Junior and Intermediate bands, Junior and Intermediate ensembles, Senior ensemble Marshall and James Kemp in Senior Solo Instrumental. So well done to them and thank you too to the parents and friends of all those who took part for their support on the day.

We do have one more Rockschools session after our concert this term, on Saturday 10 December and we start our Spring Term on Saturday 7 January 2017.

October Newsletter

October 21st, 2016

We are already at half-term time and there are no Rockschools on Saturdays 22 and 29 October. We will be back on Wednesday 2 and Saturday 5 November.

On Saturday 12 November Brackley Rotary Club are holding their Young Musician of the Year competition at Wayneflete Hall, Brackley from 2.00pm, and several Rockschools solo acts and bands have been invited to enter. More details will be available after half-term.

Any bands taking part are welcome to come to Towcester on Wednesdays 2 and 9 November from 6.00 – 9.00pm if they would like some extra practice sessions. Please contact Ros Miles on 07738 974220 or at rosmiles@rockschools.co.uk if you intend to come so a room can be allocated for you.

All electrical equipment brought to Rockschools needs to be PAT tested annually and Tom Cope will be with us on Saturday 5 November to do this. All students taking part in the Brackley Young Musician competition must have up to date PAT testing on all equipment they use so do make sure this is done on 5 November!

All students must bring their own extension lead to plug into the PA and power breaker supplied to each band – these must be named and also need PAT testing.

Our next big Rockschools event will be our Christmas Concert which will be on Saturday 3 December at Nicholas Hawksmoor School from 6.00 – 9.00 pm and all bands will take part.

Our Parents and Friends Association will be providing suitably festive refreshments throughout the evening.
We hope you all have a good holiday and look forward to seeing you again in November.
