Dear students,
Here is an update on the various events happening in the next few weeks. We have a very busy time ahead so please contact Ros Miles at rosmiles@rockschools.co.uk or on 07738 974220 with any problems or queries as soon as possible.
Rockschools End of Year Concert is being held at The Stables, Wavendon on Sunday 12th July and all bands will be taking part. If any band member is not available to take part please let Ros know as soon as possible. Tickets are now available and will be on sale at Towcester Rockschool from the Tuckshop on 20 June; 27 June; 4 July and 11 July. All tickets are £8.50 with no child or family concessions as they have been priced to cover the cost of hiring the venue. Playing in this venue is a wonderful experience for our Rockschools students and the support of all families and friends is important in making this event a success. Please make cheques payable to Towcester Rockschool and do help the Parents and Friends Association by paying for tickets upfront as it will not be possible to reserve tickets this year. Students at Brackley and Middleton Cheney can order their tickets from Ros.
Before then we have two more big events for our students and would ask for your support for them too as they provide further opportunities for many of them to perform in public.
Midsummer Music is being held at Towcester Town Hall on Friday 26th June from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. Bands playing are:-
This list is alphabetical, bands need to arrive by 7.00pm, the running order will be advised on Saturday, and any bands needing to play at a specific time must tell Ros by then. All Rockschools students, friends and families are welcome to come and watch our bands, and as the venue is open to the public, it is a great opportunity for our bands to play to a wider audience. Tickets for the night will be available for £3 on the door and those with tickets for the Saturday events will be admitted free of charge. Refreshments will also be available.
The National Rock and Pop Festival is at the NIA in Birmingham on Friday 10th July. Bands playing are:-
A coach has been booked to take Rockschools students for the day, to take part in the various workshops and seminars during the morning and afternoon, and to support our bands in the evening concert. The cost for the day is £15, which includes coach hire, workshops and seminars and evening concert ticket. Parents and carers are welcome to seats on the coach, dependent on space, but Rockschool staff will be accompanying all students. The Festival organizers have asked that all band members performing in the evening sell tickets to family and friends in order to support the event in its new venue. Adult concert tickets cost £8 and are available from Ros Miles and we ask that the families and friends of all bands playing for Rockschool do give both Rockschool and The National Rock and Pop Festival their support. The whole day is a great experience for all our students, and those who take part during the day and support our bands this year will have the opportunity to perform there in the future.
To book a place, please return the attached form to Ros Miles with payment of £15 (cash/cheques to Towcester Rock School) as soon as possible. The coach will leave Towcester Leisure Centre at 8.00am, the concert finishes at about 10.00 so should return by 11.30pm. This is therefore a long day, but a very exiting and enjoyable one.
